"Max is 11 and his food says grain-free, with peas in the first five lines. He was sleeping most of the day and his eyes were going cloudy. We kept his food and added the Daily Top-Up. His eyes are still a little cloudy, but by week 8 he was waiting at the door for his walk again. We got our boy back."

"Most supplements I see are underdosed, hidden in a proprietary blend, or impossible to dose for the dog in front of me. PupVital prints the dose in grams, set by his weight, and all three ingredients are on the label. That's the standard I want my clients to hold every brand to."

"Bailey is 9. At his checkup our vet asked what was in his bowl and wanted to keep an eye on his heart. We didn't switch his food, we added PupVital every morning. He isn't cured, but his walks are longer and his last two checkups went well. He's here and he's happy, and that's everything."

What owners notice first

The night cough. The cloudy eyes.

A man sitting awake on the edge of his bed at night, head in his hands, his chocolate labrador lying on a blanket in front of him

The night cough

It's not his throat. It's his heart.

That dry cough at 2 a.m. sounds like his throat. In a lot of dogs, it's the heart. His heart muscle runs on taurine. When it runs low, the heart can stretch and grow, and a bigger heart presses on his windpipe. That's the cough you hear at night.

Taurine comes from meat. Peas and lentils high on the label can leave his bowl short. You picked that food for a good reason. The Daily Top-Up puts the taurine back, every day, dosed by his weight.

Coughing every night? Have your vet check his heart. Then keep his bowl covered.

Cloudy eyes

His eyes run on taurine too.

Two places in his body use a lot of taurine: his heart, and his retina, the thin layer at the back of the eye that turns light into sight. A bowl that runs short is short for both.

PupVital won't clear a haze overnight, and we won't tell you it will. It supports retinal cell health and long-term eyesight, every day. Not perfect eyes. More good days together.

Why taurine matters

The part of his bowl nobody talks about.

Taurine comes from animal protein. Peas, lentils and chickpeas high in the ingredient list are what researchers keep finding, including in foods that aren't labelled grain-free. You picked that food for a good reason. Keep it, and add The Daily Top-Up: the taurine his bowl doesn't guarantee, put back every day and dosed by his weight.

Is it right for your dog?

Find him in one line.

Five situations that bring owners to taurine. Open the one that sounds like you.

There are peas, lentils or chickpeas in his food

Flip the bag and read the first five ingredients. Legumes high on that list are what researchers look at, and they turn up in plenty of foods that aren't labelled grain-free. In the FDA's 2019 review, 93% of the diets involved contained peas or lentils.

He's a Golden, a Cocker Spaniel or a Newfoundland

Those are the breeds taurine researchers watch most closely. UC Davis publishes breed-specific taurine references for Golden Retrievers. If he's one of them, it's a question worth answering.

You home-cook, feed raw, or rotate his food

Taurine comes from animal protein and doesn't survive cooking and freezing especially well. Rotating diets are hard to keep consistent. A measured scoop takes it off your list.

He's getting older and you'd rather be early

The most common reason people buy. One daily habit that covers the intake behind normal heart function, vision and everyday vitality.

He seems perfectly fine

Most dogs do. Taurine works quietly in the background every day, which is exactly why owners cover it before they have a reason to think about it.

Before you buy

Got questions? Good.

Does my dog need taurine if his food is "complete"?

"Complete and balanced" doesn't guarantee a taurine level. Dogs make some of their own, but diet, breed and age change how much they get. If his food lists peas, lentils or chickpeas high up, or he's one of the breeds researchers watch, the Daily Top-Up covers it.

My dog coughs at night. Will this help?

Have your vet check his heart first, since a night cough has several possible causes. If it's his heart: his heart muscle runs on taurine, and PupVital puts it back in his bowl every day, dosed by his weight.

Is it the same taurine as in cat food?

Same molecule, different dosing. Cats can't make taurine at all. Dogs make some, which is why the amount matters and why the dose is set by weight. Don't dose a dog from a cat product.

Can I give too much?

Follow the Daily Top-Up: 2 to 3 scoops a day from 4 to 22 lbs, 4 to 6 from 22 to 44 lbs, 6 to 8 over 44 lbs. More is not better. The 1 g scoop exists so the dose is the same every day.

His eyes are going cloudy. Will this clear them?

We won't promise that. A blue haze in older dogs is often a normal change in the lens, and your vet can tell you which it is. Taurine supports the retina, the part that turns light into sight. That's a daily job, not an overnight fix.

When will I notice something?

Every dog is different. Taurine works in the background, day after day. Give it the full routine: you have 90 days to decide.

Is it tested? Where is it made?

PupVital Taurine is lab tested and made in the USA, and it's vet recommended.

Wet food, dry food, raw?

All of them. Sprinkle the scoop over his usual meal and mix. A splash of water helps it cling to dry kibble.

More good days together.

Mixed into his food, once a day. 90 days to decide.
